Kirby Puckett - Modern, Draft League, AIM, DH/non-DH Leagues Puckette is a modern manager designed with workable batters ON. Like nearly all modern draft league managers, he uses the modern aggressive style of player usage. This include: Pitching: Starters pulled quickly especially at 30 batters faced. Super type closers used with grades of 17 and higher for usually one inning; but they will be spotted for 1+ innings if threat situation, OR used for two innings if relieving durability (QR) is under 3 and their RRs greater than 10. Setup reliever used with one-batter specialists also employed. LaRussa style pitching management, for the most part. Normal closers (if no supercloser available) have grades of greater than 13. Can be used for multiple innings. Note: if team has BOTH super and normal closers, superclosers strategy will dominant. That is, setup pitchers used in the 6-7-8 innings and then super closer used for the close. Normal closers, then, will be used to setup the highest grade supercloser. Supercloser pulled if struggling and STILL a save situation. He won't be left in to blow the save; if he doesn't have it, he'll be yanked. Starters pulled in safe lead or with 5+ lead and itchy relievers available. Itchy relievers spotted for one batter outings. Offense and Other Note: Very limited stealing and NEVER against +4 or higher catchers. Only runners with 40 or more steals will run. Everyone else stays. Will aggressively hit and run, especially with 3 rated HR rated batters and steal chances of second greater than 17. Bunting is more limited except with critical situations late; instead, Puckett will H&R a guy over if conditions warrant it. Will aggressively PH with: platoon disadvantage and DH or regular type players (e.g., not stars), PH for a H&R, PH when ahead late with runners on. Has blowout sub strategies limited to 8th and 9th but will DS very aggressively in lopsided games. PHs, PRs, and subs defensively for star players. Likes to use itchy guys first off the bench in such games. Better defensive players used late (1-5 lead). Has some team/player specific subbing late that might cause problems. VERY conservative base advancement on flyballs and hits. Loathes to go to third on hit unless very high success. Has unique base advance strategies.
