Terry Black: Version 1, Modern 2010+, AIM Replay Manager (date: 2014) Best with MBFs on but not required. Not designed for draft league competition. Check file dates for latest or most recent versions. INSTALLATION Manager Terry Black consists of the following four files: MgrTBlck.msy, MgrTBlck.mob, MgrTBlck.dct, MgrTBlck.lib If you are using APBA Baseball for Windows 5.75 then to install the managers unzip each manager file and move the four above files into your "MicroManagers" folder. That folder is located here (the wording may be slightly different depending on what operating system you have): C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\APBA Games\Baseball\MicroManagers If you are using BBW 5.5 or other versions, the four files must be placed in your BBW folder or directory. OVERVIEW As noted above, Terry Black is an AIM only, modern replay manager designed to recreate/simulate the general managerial style of the current era. This approach includes, for example, the use of one inning closers, heavy usage of platoon advantages/disadvantages, quick hook for starters, and (generally speaking) more of a big inning approach offensively. Black will, however, adjust nearly all of his strategies based on the roster being managed (e.g., if the team has no top closer or uses a "closer/bullpen by committee" approach, he'll use multiple closers; or if the roster played more small ball (high sacs and steals), he'll use more of a running game, et cetera). Closers, as done historically, are ranked/judged by saves (save totals are slightly adjusted based on relief appearances, throwing arm, fatigue status). In nearly all cases, closers are used for one inning in save situations (however, those with lower relieving durability ratings (2 or 1), may be used for two innings). You do not need to bench starting pitchers. Unless they had relief appearances, they will not be used in relief (except in emergencies requiring a pitcher and no relievers are available). If used in relief, they will be limited to very close situations and when a team's bullpen is quite thin. However, if a starter had a relatively high number of relief outings (say, 10+), he will obviously be used more in relief. In those circumstances, you may want to bench him. Note: Black will always "save" a potential starter (one or more starts) for the next game. Black has a quick hook for starters and is aggressive with the pen, especially in save situations. You'll seldom see more than a handful of complete games and usually this will occur only if the team's bullpen is overworked and needs a day off or if the starter is pitching a dominating outing (e.g., a no hitter or shutout with low hits/high Ks). As is the modern style, relievers will seldom go longer than two innings unless they come in early (before the fifth) and are needed to go longer.
